The Schulich Leader Scholarship invites applications from all high school graduates all over Canada who are planning to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

The scholarship program was initiated with the aim of producing STEM leaders to strengthen the economic competitiveness of Canada and Israel. The year it was inaugurated, 977 high schools and Collège d’enseignement général et professionnels (CÉGEPs) across Canada put forward a nominee to compete in the annual award competition.

1,250 students were nominated in 2015, 50 of the nominated students were selected for the scholarship by one of the twenty participating universities.

Selection Process In Canada

In Canada, all secondary schools may submit a single nominee for the award yearly, with the exception of Collège d’enseignement général et professionnels (CÉGEPs) in Québec, which may submit four.

To be qualified for the scholarship, nominees must be entrepreneurial minded and meet two out of three requirements: outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership; academic excellence; and/or financial need.

Choosing from the pool of applicants to their institution, each of the twenty participating universities will select two students to become Schulich Leader Scholarship beneficiaries.

One undergraduate student studying engineering receives a huge amount of money while the second scholarship, disbursed to a student in one of the other three STEM disciplines, receives a lesser amount of money compared to that studying engineering.

The five university partners that allure the most applications of nominees by deadline are provided an additional 8 scholarships to offer: 4 towards engineering and 4 towards science and mathematics.

Selection Process In Israel

Schulich Leader Scholarship Eligibility

The following are the eligibility for the Schulich Leader Scholarship program:

• Graduating high school or Collège d’enseignement général et professionnels (CÉGEPs) in Canada in 2021/2023 academic year
• Applicant must be a citizen of Canada or reside in Canada permanently
• Applicant must plan to enroll in a qualified STEM program at one of their partner universities. Note that, students with financial needs will be highly considered

The Schulich Leader Scholarship Nominee application requires the following:

• Name and contact information of high school or Collège d’enseignement général et professionnels (CÉGEPs)
• Name and contact details of the nominee

Once the Schulich Leader Nominee application is received, an email will be sent to you containing the Schulich Leader link. In this application, you must do the following:

• Choose a desired university
• List your top three achievements (education or more)
• Write 600 essays describing why you would make Schulich a great leader
• Write a note (optional) to list the cautionary tale
• Upload letters of reference (at least one to the school staff)
• The letter is required to be one page long, and addressed to the Schulich Scholars’ Select Committee, ensure that you include a Referee phone number and email address for approval purposes.
• Upload a new transcript or a summary of credit advisory
• Upload the necessary profile images for marketing purposes
